There are several vantage points from the trail that provide different area views. The short walk leads hikers amongst a dense forest of trees out to a wide-open viewpoint with Lincoln City to the north and Depoe Bay to the south. This easy 0.5-mile trail located near Depoe Bay is a quick and easy hike that offers spectacular views for not a lot of work.

Visitors will find this hidden spot at the north end of town near Vista Avenue and Sunset Avenue. With its rocky landscape, intense wave action, and of course beautiful views, it’s worth the short walk down the stairs. While this isn’t an actual trail, this hidden spot is one of the more memorable spots along the Oregon Coast. Located on the west side of Coast Avenue, this walk offers a spectacular ocean view at the end. Here you will find picnic benches amongst shaded shore pines. Why not start with a hike in town? Take the steps down from the Whale Watching Center, located near Channel House and follow the sidewalk along the seawall in town to Depoe Bay Scenic Park. We didnt go into the lighthouse because the volunteers were to busy flirting with a volleyball team to answer questions about tour times and the tower was closed. It was a 1/2 mile hike, one way, up the steep hill and our uncle couldnt go. The view is great, but not handicap accessible. Your dinner recommendation for Restaurant ONO in Yachats was a great experience, in fine dining. The History of the light house was awesome. When we were done at the light house we explored the caves on the beach.īarbara and I had a wonderful stay at the Inn, and were laughingly entertained by the staff at breakfast. From there its a beautiful hike through a lush forest up to the light house. A quick trip through a tunnel and across a monumental bridge and you make it to the beginning of the trail. If youve got more time, theres a trail up above the Lighthouse where you can do more hiking.Īs you round the corner of the mountain you can spot it across the cove. The Lighthouse is a short half mile hike away, and they sell snacks and refreshments in the gift shop.

There is a beautiful Sandy beach to hang out at, with gorgeous cliff views. This is a perfect spot to spend the whole afternoon. The parking fee is $5 unless you have a pass ($10 for a 5-day pass at Yaquina Bay Head). Its still worth the hike, as the views cant be beat. Lighthouse tours begin at 11, but you cant climb it, only peek inside. There will be many photo opportunities on the way up! Along the way, youll pass the lightkeepers house which was not open to the public on my visit. I highly recommend visiting this place if in the area.Ī picturesque lighthouse at the top of a beautiful half mile hike. After the lighthouse, we took the tougher Haceta Head hiking trail to Hobbit Beach. They even took our family picture for us. 5 mile hike to the lighthouse and a spectacular view.
